Missouri House Approves Measure to Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

The Missouri state House today gave initial approval to a measure that would defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

The Republican-led House on Wednesday gave initial approval to a bill that would block Medicaid funding from going to Planned Parenthood. Although babies are protected from abortions in Missouri, Planned Parenthood still arranges for abortions that kill babies and injure women in other states.

“When you do business with an entity like a Planned Parenthood, you’re ultimately subsidizing those abortion services, even if they are in other states,” bill sponsor Rep. Cody Smith said during Wednesday floor debate.

Once the House gives final passage to the bill it will head to the Senate.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled that a 2022 state budget measure cutting Planned Parenthood off from state funds was unconstitutional, according to court documents.
