Heroes: Police Praise Good Samaritans Who Selflessly Risked Themselves to Quickly Rescue Adults and Children From Sinking Vehicle

Two good Samaritans in Lousiana were in the right place at the right time when they stopped Dec. 7 and took immediate action to save a family from drowning.

The Louisiana State Police commended Jeff Lapeyrouse and Chase Dupre for saving the lives of the two adults and two children inside the sinking 2007 Toyota Corolla.

“The four occupants of the vehicle, two of which were small children, were pulled to safety by a man who witnessed the crash,” the initial press release read.

Authorities later learned that Dupre also helped in the rescue and commended him as well.

The potentially deadly situation unfolded when the vehicle was on a local highway and went off the road and into a canal. It didn’t take long for the vehicle to become submerged and for the four occupants to become trapped inside.
