Hobby Lobby founder David Green is drawing renewed attention for his decision to stop selling Halloween merchandise, sacrificing more than $22 million in annual sales to uphold his Christian convictions. According to a Newsmax report, Green believed God was directing him to discontinue products associated with the holiday, despite their profitability.
Green described Halloween as a dark celebration associated with death and expressed concerns about merchandise featuring blood, horror, and other disturbing imagery. Rather than selling Halloween decorations, Hobby Lobby offers seasonal alternatives, including pumpkins, scarecrows, autumn leaves, and Thanksgiving decorations.
Green emphasized that his company’s commitment to biblical principles takes precedence over financial gain. He stated, “We will never compromise our Christian faith or our integrity for more money,” Green said. “I will not do that.”
The businessman has consistently maintained that honoring God should guide corporate decisions, even when those choices carry significant financial consequences. Green also credits God’s blessings for the company’s long-term success.
