At least 30 Christians were killed during an attack on the village of Naridon in Kaduna State, Nigeria, on Sunday, although Truth Nigeria reported that the death toll exceeded 60 across multiple attacks. According to International Christian Concern, armed gunmen entered the village, opened fire on residents inside their homes, and set several houses ablaze as survivors fled into nearby fields. Building Zion reported that the violence continued for hours without intervention from security or government forces, lasting into the early morning.
Local leaders renewed urgent calls for greater protection as attacks against Christian communities continue in the region. Rt. Hon. Stephen Hajara, spokesperson for the Kauru Local Government Legislative Council, said, “Every month, we bury our people. Last month, we buried 11 people, including children; now, another mass burial of 30. Enough is enough, please! Please come to our aid!” Community members identified the attackers as suspected ethnic Fulani militants. Civil society leader Derek Christopher noted that the same community was attacked around the same time last year and questioned whether the government intends to protect vulnerable villages. Nigeria continues to face violence from Fulani militants, Boko Haram, and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
