Overcoming Believers Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, recently served its community by providing free gasoline to hundreds of drivers amid rising fuel costs. The church, which has approximately 1,500 members, hosted its “Gas & Glory” outreach event at a local Exxon station, assisting about 400 vehicles with $20 worth of free fuel each.
In addition to gasoline, attendees received T-shirts, children were given candy, and drivers were invited to attend Easter Sunday services. Volunteers also offered prayer, games, and practical help such as jump-starting vehicles while participants waited.
Karen Swint, a church spokesperson, said Senior Pastor Daryl Arnold “has a heart for this community and is always wanting to help in whatever way he can.” She noted that this year’s event was the most successful yet as the church refined its approach to better serve attendees.
Swint emphasized the ministry’s spiritual mission, stating, “People need to see us be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.” She added, “The Bible tells us to ‘Go and make disciples,’” and said the outreach reflects a commitment to living out the Gospel through action.
