Churches across the United States are expanding Easter outreach efforts as Americans are expected to spend $24.9 billion on the holiday. Many congregations are hosting large-scale community events designed to draw visitors and share the message of Christ during Holy Week.
In California, Compass Church organized a helicopter drop of 100,000 Easter eggs, along with a skydiving Easter bunny. In Alabama, Cultivate Church anticipates 20,000 attendees at its outreach event, which includes egg drops, food, and family activities. Pastor Brandon Matthews explained the heart behind the effort, saying, “We do this to let the community know we want something for them, not something from them.”
Other churches are utilizing technology to present the Gospel. In Tennessee, a coalition of churches will host a drone show depicting the Resurrection, while a similar event in Texas has drawn thousands nightly and set a North American record.
Organizers emphasize unity and evangelism. As one pastor stated, “We want to make it about Jesus and getting people excited about the Easter season and going to church somewhere.”
