The slaughter of Christians continues to escalate across parts of Africa, with Islamic State-affiliated militants claiming responsibility for a series of brutal attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Mozambique. According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), 20 Christians have been beheaded in recent weeks.
In the DRC, the Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) claimed two major attacks. On November 12, 12 Christians were beheaded in Mayba Village, Lubero Territory. Days earlier, six Christians were killed in Mazenze Village in northeastern Ituri Province, where militants used machine guns and torched 20 homes.
In Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, four Christians were killed, two of them beheaded. Bishop Alberto Vera of Nacala reported, “It was a week of terror and much suffering. Parents and their children had to flee to safer places. Thousands of families are suffering and trying to escape the terrorists.”
The violence has displaced over 128,000 people in a single week, according to the United Nations.
