Dr. James Dobson’s Legacy Lives On

Dr. James C. Dobson, one of the most influential voices in American Christianity and a tireless advocate for traditional family values, passed away August 21 at the age of 89.

In 1977, Dobson and his wife Shirley launched the radio broadcast Focus on the Family. What began on 34 stations quickly grew into a worldwide ministry, reaching more than 220 million people daily across 7,000 stations in 150 countries. A psychologist, best-selling author, Radio Hall of Fame inductee, and trusted advisor to five U.S. presidents, Dr. Dobson dedicated his life to promoting biblical values, strengthening marriages, and equipping parents to raise children who honor God. His voice shaped the way generations of Americans viewed faith, family, and culture.

Until his final years in Colorado Springs, Dobson remained passionate about encouraging parents to raise children who love the Lord. He believed the family was the foundation of society, and that passing on faith to the next generation was the most important mission of all. “There’s nothing more important than introducing children to Jesus Christ,” he said.
