Freed missionary pilot Kevin Rideout and his wife, Krista, thanked President Donald Trump, U.S. officials, and Christians around the world after Rideout was released following 10 months in captivity in Niger.
Rideout, a 50-year-old father of four who has served with Serving In Mission (SIM) for 20 years, was kidnapped near his home in Niamey last October. He was later held by ISIS-linked jihadists, according to President Trump.
On Friday, Rideout and his family visited the White House, where they met with Trump and members of the administration’s hostage recovery team. The Rideouts expressed gratitude to the U.S. government, SIM, churches, friends, and fellow believers who prayed faithfully for his protection and release.
The couple said Scripture sustained them throughout the ordeal, especially Deuteronomy 31:6 and its promise that God will never leave or forsake His people. Despite the kidnapping, the Rideouts said they continue to love Niger and its people and will carry them in their hearts and prayers.
