New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani marked Palm Sunday by attending a service at The Greater Allen Cathedral of New York, sharing the visit publicly. He wrote, “It was an honor to spend Palm Sunday this morning with Pastor Green and the congregation at The Greater Allen Cathedral of New York.” Referencing Scripture, he added, “As James 2:14 reminds us, ‘faith without works is dead.’ That message calls on all of us to build a better city.”
Mamdani also extended greetings for the Christian observance, stating, “Where government shows up for people with respect. Where faith is nurtured by justice, and freedom is abundant. Wishing a blessed Palm Sunday to all New Yorkers observing this sacred day.”
The visit also reflects Mamdani’s prior interactions with Christian communities in New York. Following his 2025 election, he shared a video showing pastors praying over him and asking the Holy Spirit to “strengthen and guide” him, which he described as “humbling.”
